The town of Swansboro is located in Onslow County in the Inner Banks region of coastal North Carolina. Originally settled by plantation owner Theophilus Weeks, Swansboro was incorporated in 1783 and named after Samuel Swann, a former North Carolina House of Commons speaker.
Well known for its festivals and community events, the city of Swansboro is host to numerous local happenings each year. Popular events include the Mullet Festival, held the second Saturday and Sunday in October, the July 4th Fireworks Show, and Arts by the Sea, an annual arts and crafts fair held the 2nd Saturday in June.
Known as the “Friendly City by the Sea,” this charming waterfront community of 1,500 is a city where all can enjoy the breathtaking ocean views, quaint shopping boutiques, casual waterside eateries, and distinctive architecture unique to this historic fishing village.
